Folks, America have decided and their new American Idol is -- (dim the lights, here we go!) -- Phillip Phillips! It's absolutely and without a doubt official: American Idol Season 11 winner is Phillip Phillips. And while Phillip Phillips fans from around the world are still celebrating this victory, the rest of us are on the edge of our seats anticipating what's gonna be next for this 21 year old laid-back cool dude from Leesburg, Georgia.

Phillip Phillips (born Phillip La Don Phillips, Jr. on September 20, 1990) grew up in Leesburg, Georgia, and attended Lee County High School. He graduated from Albany Technical College with a major in Industrial Systems Technology but missed the graduation ceremonies because of his obligations to American Idol. Phillip says his musical influence is his brother-in-law, Ben Neil.

It was a tight competition between Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips though many had predicted early that Phillip Phillips will be the runaway winner. Phillip's finale performance of "Home" got positive feedback and a standing ovation from the judges while Jessica's "Change Nothing" was just "OK" and it was a pop ballad that undermines Jessica's style and potential.

Here's Phillip performing his coronation song "Home" after being announced the winner of American Idol Season 11. "Home" will become his first single after being crowned the winner. For the record, Phillip Phillips is the 7th male American Idol since Ruben Studdard won on the Idol's second season in 2003 and the 5th consecutive male Idol since a female last won (Jordin Sparks) on Idol's 6th season in 2007.
Once again, congratulations Phillip! Continue to inspire and entertain us with your music and personality. The world is excited to hear you sing your own songs and we're all hoping to see more great things from you. And to Jessica Sanchez, you should know that in my heart, you are the winner. You have shown the world how truly talented you are and with your stay on Idol, you have proven to everyone that you are an elite, top-notch performer. I'm sure the world is raring to embrace you and your music. Keep being the humble young woman that you are.

Sad that I haven't seen any shows of American idol season 11. But since Youtube is there, I've seen few of Jessica's performance. She's really a good singer.
